Read the interview with Víctor Murillo and his winning proposal: REDIA Remote, digital assistant and training system
Víctor Murillo and Skylife
Victor Murillo Miras is the Digitalisation Department Manager at Skylife Engineering, with over 9 years of experience in aerospace, naval, defence, energy, training and manufacturing sectors. He is Telecommunications Engineer (University of Seville) and holds a Postgraduate Degree in Development and Experimentation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (International University of Andalusia), and the Project Manager Professional certification from the PMI. In his career he carried out the following functions: design, management and programming of virtual training simulator for a leading company in the aerospace sector; management of international and regional R&D projects; design, management and programming of a digital assistant and virtual training solutions; design and management of a digital assistant and engineering services for a leading company in the naval and defence sector.
Can you give a brief overview of your winning proposal?
What are its key objectives and innovative aspects?
From Skylife we have the objective to put our product in a new dimension. With REDIA, we have the plan to connect the virtual simulator and digital assistant solutions in a new all-in-one concept to use the same tool for training, virtual experiences and operative purpose. We use the concept ‘train as operate’ and operate as train’.
We offer development of customised digital solutions and specific products for industry 4.0, accelerating learning curves, shortening distances or providing support in complex processes.
TRAINING: Virtual training to know and train procedures. | GUIDED: Interactive guided (step by step) of complex and unknown operations. | MENTORING: Remote assistance for remote troubleshooting. |
Engineering software and hardware solutions
INFINITY – Digital Assistant
Multi-sector and immersive digital assistance tool that guides you in complex operations and remote assistance situations, reducing distances and limits of knowledge.
ULTIMATE – Virtual Simulator
Multi-sector training solution with the ability to replicate 3D scenarios in which to train operators in complex or dangerous operations.
What motivated you to apply for the SPIRIT Open Call?
First, the possibility to be part of a consortium with some relevant companies in the sector with an objective aligned with the interests of Skylife Engineering, working hand in hand with these companies and sharing background and capabilities.
Our objectives are:
- Split Rendering integration in Virtual Simulators and Digital Assistants validating the structure and capability of our solution to connect and integrate services with third parties’ platforms. Integration of telepresence 2D avatar based on HOLOLENS II to use in a remote assistance call.
- Congestion-based rate adaptation for real time data management for Virtual Simulators and Digital Assistants.
- Research on a new way to manage 3D models as encoding/compression algorithms.
- New face and body gesture algorithm development using only a virtual reality kit (glass and controllers) to use this human representation in Virtual Simulators and Digital Assistants.
Additionally, this open call could be a launch to enter international markets.
How do you envision this project making an impact?
From the point of view of the product and service offerings, Digital assistant and virtual simulator solutions from Skylife have similar concept to the SPIRIT Platform. Skylife tools aim to change the paradigm in operative and training procedures. We are combining training and operation tools in an all-in-one solution without any barriers. This allows the same contents to be used for training on different platforms, such as virtual reality glasses, laptops or web platforms, and for operation, also on different platforms, such as mixed reality glasses, laptops, web platforms or tablets.
We will change the concept of training and supported operation. For this purpose, the supported operation must be adaptable to the knowledge of the operator, reducing the number of aids and checks points when the operator progress.
From the point of view of the expected commercial business, we expect an expansion of the business offering a more advanced solution.
