On 20-22 November 2024, the SPIRIT Project consortium convened in Berlin, Germany, for an engaging three-day event filled with collaboration and innovation.
Hosted at T-Systems, the gathering began on Wednesday, 20 November, where partners showcased the latest advancements and technologies developed during the project through the use cases. This event set the stage for the subsequent discussions and strategic planning.
On Thursday, 21 November, the consortium initiated the preparation for the Periodic Review. During this meeting, members discussed key updates and shared insights on the four use cases: Multi-Source Live Teleportation with 5G MEC Support, Real-Time Animation and Streaming of Realistic Avatars, Holographic Human-to-human Communication, and Distributed Steering of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR).
During the session, all SPIRIT partners had the opportunity to showcase their progress and share the results achieved so far. Through engaging, interactive discussions, they collaboratively reviewed and refined the presentations prepared for the upcoming Periodic Review scheduled for the following day.
The event culminated on Friday, 22 November, with the SPIRIT Periodic Review. The consortium presented its technical achievements and outlined key updates and objectives to the European Commission. Specifically, the review featured detailed presentations from each Work Package (WP), including innovative demonstrations of SPIRIT’s immersive telepresence applications across the four key use cases. The review also included presentations on SPIRIT’s Open Calls, dissemination efforts, and an administrative overview.
Feedback shapes SPIRIT’s future efforts
The review concluded with constructive feedback and valuable discussions that reinforced partners’ commitment to driving the project forward. The Project Officer and Reviewers acknowledged the clear progress made, highlighting significant advancements in certain areas while emphasising the need for continued improvement in others. This constructive feedback inspires the SPIRIT team to intensify their focus and dedication, ensuring the project continues to drive innovation and achieve its ambitious goals in the months ahead. The SPIRIT Consortium will align on the long-term objectives, with a focus on the strategic efforts and technical developments toward a clear and impactful outcome.
