As part of the BeyondXR Cluster, a network of forward-looking European projects shaping the future of extended reality, the SPIRIT project was proud to contribute to the 5th episode of the “Meet the Experts” webinar series, titled “Breaking Barriers: How Open XR Standards Unlock Interoperability and Compliance.” The event took place on 14 July 2025.
Representing SPIRIT, Prof. Dr. Hermann Hellwagner (University of Klagenfurt) joined a panel of distinguished experts from projects including XR2Industry, XR5.0, OPENVERSE, and XR4Human. His presentation focused on key topics in the XR domain, including cross-platform interoperability, immersive telepresence, adaptive streaming of point clouds, and the importance of open XR standards in supporting innovation.
Drawing from SPIRIT’s ongoing work, Prof. Hellwagner emphasised the significance of open, standards-based collaboration as essential enablers of a trusted XR ecosystem. His insights contributed to a deeper understanding of how harmonised XR frameworks can enhance industrial XR innovation while ensuring user-centric, compliant solutions.
Stakeholders are also encouraged to join the discussion via the BeyondXR Forum, where a dedicated space has been created to continue the exchange of ideas sparked by the event.
As an active member of the BeyondXR Cluster, SPIRIT continues to collaborate with other pioneering projects to advance shared goals around interoperability and ethical XR integration.
