Last week, our partners attended the ACM Multimedia Systems Conference in Bari, Italy. From keynotes on quality management and sustainability in video streaming, to paper presentations on open datasets and software, the conference delved into an array of aspects of multimedia systems.
Attended by about 120 people, the project partners promoted the project’s first Open Call, which sparked a lot of interest from other conference participants. Matthias De Fré (Ghent University) presented his work on scalable one-to-many WebRTC communication through volumetric video, and he and Jeroen van der Hooft (Ghent University) showcased their demo for real-time many-to-many video conferencing. Other PhD students at IDLab presented another demo and presented a paper at the collocated NOSSDAV workshop. From the University of Klagenfurt, Prof. Dr. Christian Timmerer, Shivi Vats and Dr. Minh Nguyen also promoted the SPIRIT project and results as well as the Open Call with other conference goers.
About ACM MMSys
The 15th ACM Multimedia Systems Conference was held from 15-18 April, 2024 in Bari, Italy. MMSys 2024 provides a forum to leading researchers from academia and industry to present and share their latest findings in multimedia systems.
While research about specific aspects of multimedia systems are regularly published in the various proceedings and transactions of the networking, operating systems, real-time systems, databases, mobile computing, distributed systems, computer vision, and middleware communities, MMSys aims to cut across these domains in the context of multimedia data types. This provides a unique opportunity to investigate the intersections and the interplay of the various approaches and solutions developed across these domains to deal with multimedia data types.
